Set the dressing corner with the Hartwell Ebonised Vanity Table and Stool Set by EKAR FURNITURE. A deep ebonised dressing table with parcel-gilt brass mounts, fine gilt stringing outlining every panel, a shallow central drawer flanked by panelled compartments, tapering legs in gilt sabots, and a matching ivory velvet drum stool with a button-tufted crown, a classical English vanity set that reads formal, dark, and precisely decorated.
Hartwell Ebonised Vanity Table and Tufted Drum Stool Set | Classical English Regency Dressing Table with Gilt Brass Mounts - EKAR FURNITURE A dressing table has to hold a great deal of small, fussy clutter and still look composed, and the Hartwell Ebonised Vanity Table and Stool Set by EKAR FURNITURE is designed to do exactly that. It is a classical English Regency-style dressing set, supplied as a matched pair, a low, wide vanity table and a small upholstered drum stool built to sit tucked into the space beneath its central drawer. The body is finished on a deep ebonised ground, near black and polished to a hard sheen, and every edge, panel, and joint is picked out in fine gilt stringing and warm gilt brass mounts. The effect is graphic rather than ornate, since the decoration is drawn in thin lines and shaped plates rather than carved scrollwork. We build it as a bespoke custom furniture set in our Foshan furniture factory, in your own finish and metal tone.
The table is laid out symmetrically, as English dressers of this period were. A shallow drawer runs along the centre, its front bordered in gilt stringing and set with a shaped gilt mount at the middle, and on either side a panelled compartment door encloses deeper storage, each door framed by a thin inlaid rectangle and centred with a round gilt escutcheon and a small key plate. At the corners and along the upper edge, cast gilt brass mounts are applied as discreet armour as much as ornament, at the uprights where the body turns and along the top rail, so the dark corners catch light and the piece reads clearly from across the room. The whole body is raised on tapering square legs that fall slim to the floor and are sheathed at the foot in gilt metal sabots, which both protect the timber and finish the line of the leg. Because the carcase sits low and long rather than tall, the tabletop stays comfortable to work at while seated, and the legs stay clear of the knees.
The top itself is the working face and is finished to take real use. The ebonised surface is polished flat and hard so it reflects light softly rather than showing every mark, and it is bordered by a raised gilt-lined edge that keeps bottles, trays, and brushes from travelling toward the front. Beneath the top, the central drawer is fitted for the everyday items that need to be within reach, brushes, compacts, and tools, while the side compartments hold fragrance, larger bottles, and folded things out of sight. The interiors are lined and finished to the same standard as the exterior, so nothing raw shows when a door is opened. Where the room calls for it, the set is coordinated with an oval mirror on a dark frame crowned with carved gilt foliage, and with matching trays, boxes, and jewellery cases in the same black-and-gold language, so the whole dressing corner reads as one designed scheme rather than a table with accessories placed on it.
The stool carries the softness in a set that is otherwise hard and dark. It is built as a low drum form, faced in a plain ivory velvet, its crown button-tufted into deep, regular dimples that gather around a centre point, which gives the top a generous, comfortable seat that will not flatten with daily use. The sides are left smooth and unadorned so the shape reads clean, and the base is finished with a gilded banded footing that ties the stool directly to the mounts on the table. Its height and diameter are proportioned to slide neatly under the recessed central drawer, so when the table is not in use the set stands as one compact element against the wall instead of a chair pushed awkwardly to one side. Padding, cloth, and tufting are all done by hand, and the frame is built to take weight without creaking. As export furniture, mounts, legs, and tops are secured, finished, and packed in-house to travel without marking.
In the room, the Hartwell belongs in a dressing corner or bedroom wall where it can sit beneath artwork, in a walk-in wardrobe, a guest suite, a bridal room, or a boutique hotel bedroom. Its dark ground and gilt line work makes it unusually flexible: it holds its own against pale plaster, sage and celadon walls, cream damask, botanical prints, brass and crystal lighting, and patterned rugs, and it gives a light room a point of contrast without needing a heavy bed frame to balance it. There is steady demand for ebonised and gilt English-style bedroom furniture of this kind in the India import furniture market, where buyers in Mumbai and New Delhi specify dressing tables and matching stools for villas, penthouses, and hospitality suites that lean formal and curated rather than soft.
As a high-end furniture customization factory, we set the ground colour, the metal tone, the stringing pattern, drawer layout, and the stool cloth and tufting to your drawings, and our Foshan custom furniture factory builds, inspects, and export-packs each set for delivery worldwide.
