Cassiane Silver Leaf Serpentine Bed Bench | Classical French Carved Upholstered Bench for Bedrooms - EKAR FURNITURE
A bench at the foot of a bed is one of the easiest pieces to place and one of the hardest to get right, because its whole job is shape, and the Cassiane Silver Leaf Serpentine Bed Bench by EKAR FURNITURE is drawn entirely around that. It is a classical French bedroom bench, low and long, with a frame finished in soft silver leaf worked over carved timber, and a single plain upholstered seat laid into the top of that frame. The frame is the design: its upper rail runs in a shallow serpentine line and then curls outward and downward at both ends into a rolled scroll, so the bench has no corners at all, and beneath it the legs splay outward in a wide, sculptural stance. The result reads as a single continuous curve from one scrolled end to the other, with the pale seat held inside it. We build it as a bespoke custom furniture piece in our Foshan furniture factory, in your own cloth and finish.

The upper rail carries the whole character of the bench. Rather than a straight horizontal member, it is shaped to dip and rise gently along its length, then turn over and out at each end into a full rolled scroll, the kind of terminal that gives a French bench its sense of being drawn rather than assembled. Because the scroll turns outward, the ends of the bench read as soft and finished, and the piece can stand in the middle of a room without an awkward edge facing the door. The rail is carved with a fine running line and then covered in silver leaf, worked by hand so the tone varies and settles in the hollows, giving a cool, aged pewter shimmer rather than a flat metallic coat. A paler, warmer tone is left on the raised edges, so the shape of the curve is drawn out by light rather than by colour.

The seat is kept deliberately plain against all that movement. It is a single upholstered pad laid into the frame, faced in a smooth pale ivory cloth with a low, soft sheen, its surface left unbuttoned and unpatterned so the eye is not pulled off the line of the frame. The front edge of the seat is shaped to follow the serpentine of the rail beneath it, so the two sit together as one form rather than as a cushion dropped onto a frame. Beneath the padding the seat is supported on a properly sprung base rather than a board, which makes the bench comfortable enough to sit and dress on or to fold clothes across, and the support is fitted so the centre never dips under regular use. Cloth can be changed to velvet, damask, or a plain weave to suit your own room or project.

Below, the structure is where the piece becomes decorative. Four cabriole legs curve outward from the body and splay generously toward the floor, so the bench takes a wide, confident stance and stays stable despite its low height. The legs are joined by shaped stretchers that meet toward the centre, and at that meeting point sits a carved shell rosette, a fan-shaped motif with leaves running out along the rails, worked by hand and finished in the same silver leaf as the upper frame. This is the one place the ornament is concentrated, and it gives the bench a clear centre when seen from the foot of the bed or from across the room. The joints are glued, pinned, and squared, and as export furniture the legs and stretchers are fitted and packed in-house to travel without damage and assemble cleanly on site.

In the room, the Cassiane belongs at the foot of an upholstered bed, where its low height sits comfortably below the mattress line and gives a place to sit, to leave a robe, or to set a tray. It works equally in a dressing room, a walk-in wardrobe, a guest suite, or a hotel room, and its pale, cool finish lets it pair with cream and ivory palettes, warm woods, mirrored and nickel surfaces, crystal lighting, and soft grey, sage, or blush textiles. Because the bench is low and open underneath, it does not visually shorten a room even in smaller bedrooms. There is steady demand for this kind of piece in the India import furniture market, where buyers in Mumbai and New Delhi specify carved bedroom benches for villas, penthouses, and boutique hotel rooms that need a finishing element rather than extra seating. As a high-end furniture customization factory and our Foshan custom furniture factory, we set the length, seat cloth, carving depth, and leaf tone to your drawings.
